Living green is important these days, but so many are under the impression that recycling, conserving energy and using green products is difficult, expensive or time consuming. The trick to living green is to make the effort you can, and to investigate your options. Buying a hybrid car, for example, is not for everyone, but using fuel conservatively can be managed by any driver.

Also, idling for any length of time burns more gas than it takes to restart the car, so don't idle - rather switch off your engine in heavy traffic, when you're waiting outside the school for the kids or when you are stopped at an interminable red light.

So what else can you do to keep driving green?
Well, driving green is not only about the vehicle, but should also be about your behaviour in the vehicle. Speeding, sudden accelerations, and hard braking waste fuel, so drive responsibly and save yourself fuel and maintenance costs. Also, carry a reusable water bottle with you instead of buying a new bottle each time you stop. In America 3.3 million plastic bottles are used every hour but only one in five is recycled,: help prevent the same wastage in the UK by using your water bottles for as long as they last and then recycle them.

Every little thing can make a difference, so do as much as you can and encourage those around you to follow suit. Not only is it good for the environment, but you will also save yourself money in the long run.
